Question: Why do laws continue to allow pet stores to sell puppies?
Wouldn’t passing a law that prohibited the sale of puppies at stores make a huge impact in shutting down puppy mills? Why is this legal? You always hear politicans talking about animal rights, why don’t they do something about it and make it illegal for stores to sell puppies??!! And, why, when shows like Dateline & 20/20 do undercover investigations of these puppy mills, don’t they bring cops with them to shut them down, arrest and throw in jail the cold-hearted people that run them? Obviously it’s going to take more than telling people “don’t buy a puppy at a pet store” for this madness to stop. For every person who decides to not buy from a store, there is always somebody who will.

Unfortunately, people tend to be more concerned for human convenience, comfort, and profit than the rights and welfare of non-human animals. We’ve got to keep fighting to change this, though.

You know I love animals too, but, putting yourself into a downward spiral of stress won’t help. Besides the good ones outweigh the bad ones. The law are definitely working on this and unless you have seen a bad one personally you really can’t help.

You don’t get healthy dogs from pet stores. Period.
Get one from a reputable breeder who DOES have healthy and well bred dogs. Pet stores get their dogs from puppy mills.

I wouldn’t buy fish from any huge, chain pet store. They just don’t take good care of them. Try a smaller, privately owned buisness. And NEVER buy fish from a pet store that has dead fish in ANY of its tanks.
